what is the best way to add the white space i need? (C#)?
Hi,
so pretty much what I have is a treeview with hierarchical nodes.
when you click a node, the text is added to a rich text box. I need a good way to indent the new lines depending on their hierarchy.
Pretty much right now what I am doing is something like this (where str is the string to be displayed in the tree when a node is hit):
switch(node.Level){
case 1: str = "t" + str; break;
case 2: str = "tt" + str; break;
case 3: str = "ttt" + str; break;
.....
.....
}
you get the idea.
Is there a better way to do it??
This just leads to big issues because I need to set the hanging indent, etc...which is a bit of a hassle...because you cant set it easily for just one line, it has to be the whole textbox (it seems)...
any suggestions?
thanks
ya, I actually am doing something close to that (with a for loop)...i just didnt feel like writing it out lol
If you want to insert node.Level tabs at the start of a string you can write:
str = new string('t', node.Level) + str;
String has a constructor that takes a character and the number of times it is to appear.
I would question whether your approach is "industrial strength". There will come a point when the indented text starts wrapping around. Better solutions might include using a tree or, if you really want it to be rich text, use RTF formatting (liN for instance indents lines).
